Vogelbescherming was founded in 1899 and is therefore the oldest Dutch nature conservation organization.
Vogelbescherming is part of BirdLife International, an umbrella organization of 117 bird and nature organizations with a total of 10 million members and supporters. This makes BirdLife the largest nature organization in the world.
